Default ebrake light coming on

can someone please give me some insight as to why this would be happening? sometimes is stays on even after the brake has been released, and other times, it just randomly comes on while driving... anythoughts? thanks

Check your brake fluid. If its low, refill it.

Also could be the sensor on your cap gone bad...but most likely your fluid is low.

I had this same problem as well. It seemed more likely to occur when I started the car in the morning on a cool (I live in Florida) day. I checked searched the forums and came up with the same answers. Went out and topped off the fluid and BINGO! Problem solved!

I just wanted to post here in case anyone comes accross this via a search and let you all know that you were right. It was the brake fluid and it was a tad bit low. no where near the min. line, but just the same, it wasnt full. the brake light has no stayed off for 3 days when it should be on. thanks again.

Your brake fluid is low for a reason, either you got a leak or the pad linings are really low. Have it checked out if you don't know how to do it yourself.
