Default tire pressure question...

Hey I just bought a pen style tire gauge and on the reading meter, it has 1-50 and has lbs. as a scale. Is this same thing is psi? 1 lb = 1 psi?

somebody help plz.

PSI stands for Pounds per Square Inch. So yes, they are essentially the same.

Speaking of tire pressure and gauges... Anyone have any comments on those digital gauges? How are they regarding accuracy and durability. Not that they would really get beat up, but perhaps dropped on occasion.

I have a cheap one I got at K-Mart for a few dollars, always has worked fine. The most it ever has been banged around is sitting in my glovebox though.

I was at the strip one day and realized I had forgot my tire pressure gauge at home and a guy next to me had a digital one. It worked fine for me, but it was no different then a generic one that wasn't digital and probably cost about 10 dollars cheaper.

The digital ones are convinient because its only takes a second or two for them to get the reading and you don't have to hold it on the nozzle to read it. However, you must remember to calibrate them as per instructions otherwise you will get weird readings.

Thanks for the info... Sounds like almost any gauge will work.
