I just got mine last Fri(on ebay, some guy named Sugox), and I just tried to put it on. But it only screws down a few turns and then it won't go anymore. Did you guys have to saw some of the shifter off

I have one of those aftermarket "Type R" shift knobs off ebay too. It fit perfectly on my 95 GSR.

Depending on how old it is, it may have corroded inside. If you turn it over and look into it, does it look full of white powder? If so, try to knock it out, spray with some WD-40 or similar, and try it again. That was the case when I got mine for my Civic to cap a DC short throw shifter (which never showed up, at least they didn't charge me for it ) but after a quick cleaning it threaded right onto my stock shift lever. It looks pretty gay right now, the 84-87 Civics have mile-high stock shift levers, but I'm too poor to correct that any time soon.

It probably isn't threaded properly. Try running a bottoming tap down the hole... should clean up the threads. Don't cut your shifter.
