Yes, changing the stock shifter requires you to go under your car and remove like 4 bolts and then the shifter comes out through the bottom and the new one installs from the bottom.

the shifter has to be installed from underneath.

get under the car and head towards the middle. look at the shift linkage that is "C" shaped near the end, and that is attached to the bottom of your shifter. remove that bolts and nut. you may also have to remove the other shift linkage there (I cant' remember). just remove the bolts from the bottom there and pull the old shifter out, and put in your new shifter. it's really easy. you may be down there for a while depending on how everything goes. def get under using jack stands. also you should buy shifter bushings for the shift linkage. it really does help, and is probably gonna be more beneficial than your short throw. i'm personally not a fan of the short throws, and i would recommend you keep your stock shift stem, and get new shifter bushings, you'll have more $$$ left ove than.

Yes I see exactly what you guys are talking about...only problem is the exhaust is in the way, aparently you have to take like the middle section off, and then slide it off, then you will be able to loosen the screws and get the stock shifter off. Also the bolts are totally fuking rusted and are like impossible to get off just about. what really sucks is, i thought this would be a 15min install, and that just is not possible. oh yeah and i forgot to mention, also you have to remove the entire center console. which i just got done putting back together, and just now drove my car off the ramps. I guess i'll put off installing it for now.

For mine, which is a G3, I took the exhaust pipe off the hangers in the middle and nudged it out of the way. It was still a ***** getting at the bolts, but it helped.
