Default HELP Painting Wipers

I just got a 94 GS-R and am working on simply restoring it back to par before making any further mods to it... and the paint on the wipers both front and rear is fading away and major silver areas are showing up. I know I can simply remove the wipers and paint them, but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on wieither or not I should try to sand off the remaining black paint on the wipers or just paint over them? What type of paint should I use? and what type of finish (gloss, semi-gloss, ect.) would anyone recommend? Also one more question... I have looked at taking off the rear wiper too, and I can't flip up the cover to get to the bolt that holds the wiper on, any suggestions on getting to this bolt? Thanks!

i'll tell you what i'm gunna do-i'm going to take all three wipers off.then i'm going to make sure their clean and sand off any rust, then i'm just going to spray 1 little coat of some primer i have laying around, probaly 2 light coats of black, and then i'm going to give it a coat or 2 of clear to make it a little shiny to match the car's paint more. i'm not going to bother sanding it.

if i remember right for the rear wiper cap,you just gotta give it a good pull.do a search for it and that will tell you how to lift the cap for sure.

i would keep it flat black. gloss or semi-gloss might make the wipers look odd.

Just sand enough so that the paint would adhere to it. Keep it flat black though. You don't want those things shiny as they would look odd. Also, when it comes to painting the area of the arm that actually holds the wiper, make sure that there aren't too many coats of paint [on the inside] as this would make the reinstallation of the wiper blade difficult.

My car is also black and i have repainted the wiper arms flat black and it's great, I think it looks good being flat, if it were glossy it would look as though you were trying to match the cars colour but it's highly unlikely that it will match perfectly so it will probably look bad.

moral: stick swith flat black
