yes track days will eat fuel like a mofo. But its so worth it then.

Driving to LA and back filling up like 4 times is not worth it

That is crap. I have 390 so far on this tank, and for a good part of it, I drove at a straight 70MPH.

So let's say you go to the track and get a generous 6 runs in. Even if you used three times as much gas as usual, do you think that 1.5 miles is really going to make a difference in the longrun?

If you read the rest of the thread you would see that I was talking about driving within a range of high speeds. If you cruise at the same speed with low throttle openings you will get good mileage.

Well the accelerating was done gradually in the rain (was pissing down hard sometimes) so while I understand that will affect mileage, it was not romping on the gas while driving.

With all the christmas crap going on I have not had time to check the problem, will report back laters.

NOt sure if this matters, but try filling up your gas from the same station. I wouldn't worry about getting 19 mpg unless it keeps happening on a repeat basis.

I get the low mileage all the time. Today I changed my fuel filter and filled up the tank. I also filled up at the normal gas station. Its very rare that I ever fillup anywhere else but this one place. I will see what mileage I get over the next few days and go from there.

Just an update:

My timing is low right now, its at 10 degrees. I thought it was at stock 16 degrees but this is the fault of the shop that did my timing belt swap. I have talked to them and they will be fixing it for free.

I have replaced my plugs with some NGK platinums, replaced the rotor and the cap and my last tank was up to 25mpg. Still down from where it should be however. I was also driving like pussy. I used to get 28 driving hard.

Replacing the fuel filter did nothing for the mileage fyi. I didn't think that it would make a change either but it was old and should have been replaced anyway.

After my timing is back to stock and I then adjust my valves I'll let you fools know what exactly made the change in my mpg.

Does filling up all the way do anything for or against the engine? Some people have told me it's better for the engine to fill up all the way, but I've also heard it's better to just splash 5 bucks worth in every few days so as you aren't driving around with as much gas all the time, thus lighter, thus slightly improved gas mileage, what do yall think, which is better?
