Transmission Reverse Problem
Just picked up my first Integra, a 94 LS coupe with A/T. This is going to be my next project once I finish my current project. It has various issues but one that I haven't experienced before. When I put it in reverse it hesitates a second and then it feels like someone rear ended me! When putting in any of the drive positions there is no problem. Thoughts??
thanks in advance for any responses.

congrats on your first integra, it sounds like the idler gear for reverse is having a hardtime going into place, but then again, i've never taken apart an automatic integra transmission. it could be pressure or fluid related problem.
have you checked the fluid level and condition?

I have no good advice for the OP though, i've never owned an Automatic Honda/Acura.
You don't flush a Honda automatic, you drain and refill. If you want similar results to a flush, done in a safe way, you can drain and refill the transmission 2 or 3 times within a relatively short period of time. You must always use Honda ATF as well or the trasmission will not last as long, that's all there is to it :hs: Some people use the term flush to refer to a drain and refill, as long as you don't actually do the wrong one it doesn't matter.
The only two Honda fluids you can never substitute in a Honda/Acura without some sort of negative repercussions down the line are AT fluid and P/S fluid.
And remember, since there's no removable/serviceable (without a rebuild) filter, the more times you change it over the life of the car the better.
