Default Options for my wet trunk....

First of all, does anyone else have a problem with hatchbacks
leaking into the trunk? My last car was a hatchback and it also leaked.
Somewhere in my trunk it's leaking water into the back under the
spare tire. I don't know from where yet. I had to pull out my speakers
which are like 50 lbs, unscrew the cd changer, rip out the cardboard piece
under the carpet and unscrew the spare tire just clean out the water. The
cardboard is moldy now and the carpet is moldy AND soaked. The whole
area around the spare was filled with water, which is why I need to figure
out what to do with the carpet and cardboard (I cant just clean it and put
everything back in, it'll just get ruined again).
Now, my question....Considering I still have a warranty that will cover this,
I will have THEM fix it. If not, should I rip out the carpet from the back of
the seats AND the floor or just the floor?(then I will cover it with something
that won't mold). Let me know if you can think of any other options...
thanks!

Christina

HAHA, same thing is going on here, IN the bay area we just had 2 big a$$ storms with more to come. I got in my car and this "wet" smell was so strong I waited 5 mins before getting back in. My back seats are slightly wet to, by the seat belt latch holder thing and I saw a small puddle of H2O as well in the trunk. Dam it stinks.

i think acura warranties are 4 yr/50k miles. you can try and ask the dealer if they'll fix it, but they don't have to fix it for free. unless you have some sort of extended warranty or somethin.

Mine does the same thing. Mines a 94 Gsr, it leaks in both front corners by the hood latch thing, and right by the ecu. It also leaks where the carpet meets the backseats in both corners(passenger and driver side)right past the doors. It gets the backseats all wet and my trunk get full of water. Everytime i go to work, when i come out my windows are all fogged up. I would like to know how to solve this problem too.

does anyone know if this falls under a recall? I remember going to a website once that listed things that had been recalled and it was just a matter of calling yr dealership and making an appointment to get it repaired. Anyone have that website???
