Default RPM Ranges in daily driving

Do you ever let the engine spool up _over_ 4000 (on level surfaces)? I know VTEC 'kicks in' at about 4400, but I find it difficult to go up to even 4000 before switching...usually around 3K and I shift - the sound just makes you feel uncomfortable to the point that you should change gears; and compared to other compacts, I think it's pretty high.

Normal DAILY driving range is probably between 3-7k for me. Yeh its loud but if you want to actually go somewhere you have to wring it up that high. Around town i probably shift as high as 4k and when downshifting that tottaly depends on how fast I want to be entering a corner.

on the highway on the way to school, im usually cruising around 80-90mph, and thats 4000-4500 rpm. If you havent brought your gsr up to the 6000 mark (where the secondaries open up) , you shoulda got an LS cause thats where all the power is. honda makes power by higher RPM's...the equation is like
[ (torque*RPM) / 5252 ] = HP

try it out, your not gonna hurt anything by doing it once or twice a day, every day =) i know people who rip it through to 8000rpm like maybe 20 times a day, every day, and their cars are fine. just kee[ up with your maintenence and oil changes on time. take care.

in the city, when i'm in no hurry, i shift at 3k. i accelerate just as fast as every other car out there, and i get really good gas mileage. if i'm in a hurry, i shift at around 4k.

I live an hour from my job and tach about 4500 rpm (80mph) for an hour each way every day, not to mentioned the constant beating I put on it every other time. Just mantain your ride and it'll last. I do a valve adj. every month and change the oil every 3k miles, I even change the plugs every 3 months.
