Default Latest horror story....

I was at the track over the weekend doing some tuning, just put on a new set of slicks, 3.5k launch and ended up breaking the ears off the rear transmission case mount. Never heard of this happening. I have everything else beefed up in the drivetrain, and no ideas what I can do to prevent this from happening with the new tranny. Any ideas? Maybe adding a few of my own supports?

Just a heads up, I am an experienced racer, not some idiot who stuck slicks on his car hoping for the world.

Was the mount shot? I think you might have had an issue with the mount bushing, it probably wasn't stiff enough and slammed the tranny side of the mount into the chassis side of the mount when you launched. This is just my theory though, I could be wrong.

No, they're all new energy suspension urethane bushings. It just kinda pulled the bolts sideways thru the back of the case. I'm going to try TIG welding stronger supports across it on the new tranny case.

If all you have is Energy Suspension motor mount inserts, I would suggest going with Hasport or some other form of stiffer mount.

Also preload a bit more when your launching, it reduces wear on drive line components, bushings, suspension, and motor mounts.

Only the rear tranny mounts are inserts, the rest are solid bushings. I haven't found anybody who makes a solid rear mount piece. Hasport only has the engine and lower tranny mounts.
