Default ECU question

dont flame me, i dont know much about this ****




whats the point of swaping out an ecu.....say like if i put a mugen typeR ecu in my gsr? would that even work? what would it do?

Changing the ECU alters many things, such as the fuel curves, redline, VTEC crossover, etc. A well modified car should also have a swapped or upgraded ECU to keep up with the new fuel and redline demands.

On a stock gsr? It would do nothing; even make you lose power.

The topic's been covered before, but you're better off saving up for hondata or even a relatively cheap V-AFC and some dyno time. ECU's are specific towards a particular application, so there's no one size fits all.

ecu's are pointless to get unless they are tuned to the mods you have on your car.
