Default Looking at an 89 RS

Im looking at an 89 teg 2 door for my brother in law to drive while he is in college. I love my 92 so much that i think a teg will make a great commuter car.

The teg im looking at is silver/gray, black interior, 1.8 DOHC, auto 4. The engine was replaced 15k ago, looks very clean, no leaks. The body has 180k. The fluid in the transmission looks and smells good. Shifts and runs good. Some one has installed a flow master muffler with some type of "fancy" tips. Other than that the car is all stock. No rust anywhere on the car, some dents and dings. The car has NO power options. All of the lights work, seats move, windows roll down, all glass is intact, interior looks pretty good, few things broken here and there. No sunroof. Has the same wheels i bought for my teg, i think they are called the "fat fives". Could use new tires.

The only problems that i encountered was the power steering does not work and the oil light came on for a little bit while i was driving. I let it run for a good 20 minutes idling in his driveway and the light never came back on. The car did NOT overheat. The a/c blows, but it blows lukewarm.

He is asking 1k for it, i think that is a very fair price, i paid 2300 for mine (although mine is in MUCH better shape.)

My friend who is neighbors with the seller told me he has had at least 20 people come and look at the car, but he hasnt been able to show it because he lost the key. My friend got first dibs for me on the car, once he got a new key made. the seller said he had 10 people in line to take the car for a test drive. Could be a line of BS, might not be.

What do you long time teg experts think? Think the power steering is an easy fix and that the oil light was just a fluke from sitting so long? I know the a/c fix wont be a problem. I need to give a final answer by Saturday.

I would look at a 90 and up Integra.

More aftermarket support, better suspension double wishbones all around while the 86-89 has solid axle in the rear and struts up front. And the 90-93 Integra looks better as well as the 94-01 but these can stiil hold a premium while the 90-93 can be had for cheap.

Inside the door it says 89. It must be a 90 model. It looks exactly like my 92.

Any Pics? I used to have an 89 w/a zc swap. The above is true regarding the suspension. Because of the front torsion bar there is no springs. So if you want to lower the front end after dropping the back with some springs/struts then it is is going to bottom out and that sucks.

Brought it home today and gave it a bath.

6th month of 1989.

That's not an 89. It's clean though...I see it was made in the 6th month of 1989 but that does not mean it is an 89. An 89 may say 6/88 ya know what I mean? It just means when it was built.
