Alright guys (and girls), I have a 99 GS and want to get some different (brighter) bulbs for the headlights. I was wondering what you guys thought the best and brightest were. I do not want to do a front end conversion or HID or anything like that just yet. I am just trying to upgrade the stock bulbs with something a little brighter. I just want to plug and go... Any suggestions? What do you guys have in there? Also, do you find these bulbs burn out faster? I know that if you touch them they will explode, but I am talking if you put them in correctly. How much should I expect to pay? Thanks a lot....

 

Sylvania Silverstars. about $50 total. and do the 9005 conversion. the best you can get without going HID.

and if you make sure not to touch them with your bare skin, and clean them with rubbing alcohol before they are put in, they should last just as long as stock bulbs.

how about some piaa hyper whites or super whites, im not sure which one but they look good... anyone else have those?

 

i was able to get the sylvania silverstars for $30 after rebate.. :thumbup:

 

The converted 9005 Silverstar's give off a weird light-green/yellow color.... True, they are brighter than the stock bulbs, but the color is weird....

I'm starting to like PIAA's a lot....:naughty:

 

Is there any conversion for the PIAA's or is it just a simple plug and go?

 

all 9005's you would have to do the conversion to. and i've seen piaa's and silverstars right next to each other. the silverstars are much brighter. the only reason the piaa's have such a nice blue color is because the bulb glass is a dark blue. this dark blue glass also tends to filter out the rest of the color spectrum, which constitutes most of the light. end the end, you have paid more for less light.

 

hmm.. mine are very white.. the edges, where the beam cuts off, get a little funny in color, but it's hardly even noticable.

who cares, anyway? i like the output.
