Default AEM pads

Do the AEM brake pads squeak alot? Right now I'm running Axxis and they make my ears bleed when braking.

Which Axxis pads are you running? I'm assuming the ultimates....I have the metal masters and I don't notice any noise whatso-ever. The AEM pads are barely adequate as a stock replacement; you might want to try Hawks HPS if the axxis metalmasters aren't working for you.

How old are the pads? Check for uneven wear; maybe there's metal making contact with the rotor. I swear, from day 1 I've had zero problems with noise. Lots of brake dust, but that was relatively easy to clean. I'm going to try out the Hawks HPS pads next.

My comment about the AEM's was that they weren't much better than the OEM units, but you may want to try them since your metalmasters don't seem to be working.

Hmm..I'll check to see if there is any metal contact being made on the rotors. In the beginning they were great, no noise. I had them for almost a yr.

Well they should last more than a year. That does depend on mileage and such but for the most part they shouldn't take much maintenance to keep in good shape for longer than you've had em.

The AEM pads have a little less friction and heat capacity than the Axxis but if you're just driving on the street, the limiting factor in your braking distance is tire traction.

I have metal masters now and they don't really squeak, but they dust too much.

They "should" not squeak. Your Axxis MM should not have squeaked either though.

Usually a loud pad = more stopping power. MM and AEM pads are more of an OEM replacement, so there really should be no problems with noise for either.

MM dusts quite a bit, but it's relatively easy to wash off compared to other brake pads (Hawks HP+)
