98 Integra stalled - engine cranks but won't start.
I took the valve cover off to check the timing belt- looked "ok"; the camshaft looks like it is trying to move but it is not turning while cranking the engine. I am thinking that maybe the timing belt broke below by the crank pulley??? ...maybe with the belt engage in the teeth on the the two camshaft pulleys and part of the crank pulley - it is possible that it broke? If the belt is not broken, what would cause the camshaft not to turn? Also, are these engine non-interference? (piston won't smack into the valves)

All B-series engines are interference design.
Valves and pistons can collide (and often do) if the belt fails.

Based on what you're telling us, it sounds like the tensioner has failed and that's what has allowed the belt to go slack.

It's probably time to pull the head and see how bad the damage is.

 

That is what I was afraid of. I probably have bent valves now. The question is do I spend the time repairing it, or replace the engine with one of those Japanese engines with 50Kmi, or just get rid of it and buy another car???
I'm leaning towards getting another car.

You won't know till you pull the head.
I would not make rash decisions at this point, and I certainly wouldn't get rid of the car at this point.

If they are bent, it's not a huge ordeal to fix it. Couple of hours to tear down and put it all back together.
