Car seems to sputter and smell of gas when you get on it. Taking off from a stop there is also a bit of sputter/hesitation to accel. Not totally sure what it is, any input and help is appreciated.

 

Try your basic tuneup things. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, etc.

 

Remove and dismantle ur distributor. U have to take the "C" clip off of the the thing that mates up to ur camshaft. Is there oil inside? I think that the main bearing allows oil inside, goobering up the pickups inside. Doust them with brake cleaner and put it back together. This shud fix it temporarily. I have that same problem. I need to buy a new one but im poor. Lemme now if that works. I cleaned mine about a month ago and its starting to do it again. Its a band aid but I wanna know if it works for u. If so, that means it not something else.
