leaking clutch fluid!

Default leaking clutch fluid!

ok, recently my clutch pedal got a lil stuck then poped back, so I got worried and parked my car in the garage for a while, tonight, I took the teg out for a spin and it ran fine, but there is a puddle in the garage, and the fluid is a lil low!

I know it's leaking, but it's on the left side if looking at the engine, under the ABS system, where is it leaking from, tranny?, is this the slave cilinder problem? and how much will it cost me to repair?

yes it is a slave cylinder and it cost about 46 to 78 dollars depending on how much you pay for the part and you can either do it yourself or get someone else to do it for you and pay them like 75 dollars per hours for labor

how hard is it to do myself? because I do everything myself it's just I dont know the first thing when it comes to transmissions.

and the fact that it is leaking on that side proves it is the slave cylinder? correct? because I hope nothing else is leaking, but this just happened out of nowhere.

slave cylinder is pretty straight forward. if you look right by your fan. you'll see this rubber thing coming from your tranny. That rubber thing covering the arm of you slave cylinder. I usually jack the car up and go from the bottom. There are two bolts that hold the slave cylinder remove those two bolts and look at the hard brake line connected to the cylinder on the top side. Disconnect that brake line. I used a flared open ended wrench i think the size is either 10 mm or 12mm. Anyways disconnect the brake line and just pull the slave cylinder out. When putting the new salve cylinder in make sure the head is inside that dimple on the fork taht is protruding form the tranny. After you connect everything back up bleed the lines and you are done. to test if your slave cylinder is working properly ahve someone pump the clutch, and feel behind the rubber cover and you should feel it push against your finger.

Close the bleeder valve (found on the back of slave cylinder) looks like the bleeder valve found on brakes. Have someone pump three times, and keep pressing down on the third pump. Someone opens the system. The pedal will fall too the floor, close the system and do it again.

I have a pip connected to the bleeder valve that is running into a bottle with clutch fluid in it. When you open the system and release the pressure build up, you'll see air come from the lines. Keeping doing it till you see fluid come from the lines, and no bubbles.

Pretty simple. Keep an eye out on your clutch master cylinder (by the firewall, and the place you put your clutch fluid in). Make sure it doesn't get low, keep topping it off. If you get air in there... you've got a lot of bleeding a head of you.

well I was all sure it was the slave cylinder, so I bought one at the dealership today, but when I got under my car to install it, the one already there was completly dry, and my oil pan was a lil wet, (I just switched to synthetic about 1k miles ago at 130,xxx) so maybe that was the leaking, but why is my clutch fluid a lil low now, and why did th epedal get stuck before? The oil level is exactly where I left it too btw. What is going on?

Wait a second...

So whats leaking? Fluid or oil? Thats step 1...which fluid is on the ground?

pump your clutch and look and feel for fluid around and on the slave cylinder. it could be leaking from the rubber around the arm which actually pushes the fork, and be dripping right to the ground.

is the slave cylinder squeaking when you push it down?
