Default Need to replace brakes...need info

Does anybody know where or what shops I can go to to fix my brakes? Would you guys recommend Brake Masters, the Acura shop? I think I need to replace all four. Also, what's the most I can pay for them, including resurfacing? Instead of resurfacing, should I just replace the rotors? How much does that cost?

Buy the Brembo "Factory Replacement" rotors, aka "blanks", and do it yourself. They cost about $20 each for the front and $15 each for rear I think. Do it yourself and save money if you can, it's not really that hard if you have a socket set, screwdrivers and probably an impact driver ($15 at Autozone). Do you just need rotors? Or rotors, pads, and calipers?

brembo blanks cost about $30 for the fronts, and $23 for the rears.

expect to pay about $100-120 for the labor only.

$120 labor at the most. For sure.

It should not take them anymore than an hour, realistically. New pads, rotors and bleeding the lines... no biggy.
You could do it yourself if you spend $60 on a Helms manual anyway, which you should...

So expect to spend WELL under $300 total.

Brembo blanks

I resurfaced my stock rotors. 1 track day and they were toooasssttttt. I guess wearing away metal on stock rotors made them twice as weak as before.

You thinking of upgrading the brake pads?

You will definatly want new brake pads as well. I mean, no point in swapping rotors and bleeding the lines, then putting some old nasty grooved pads on.

Pads are cheap.
Get some hawk's or axxis or something.

I like less-braking power organic pads, cause they don't squeek... and since im not on an autocross they work fine.

Get some Axxis Dustmasters....heheh..

Actually the dust is pretty easy to get off (rise with a hose), although they dust more than any other pad I can think of. Hawks HPS are a pretty decent street pad as well.

Do you have a GS-R? I just looked it up and I paid $26 for fronts and $18 for rears from Nopi. And $46 for AEM pads (two). :dunno: Either way, they're not expensive.

wow, good deal. i got that price from GBC. thats without the $30 shipping for all four.

i think all rotors are the same except for the ITR and RS, at least for G3s.

but anyway...

brembo blanks, $120 for all four off the net including shipping
aem pads, $80 for four online
labor, $100-120

thats a good $300. yikes.

you can always save some money by getting cheaper pads in the rear...:dunno: this is just an example and most likely my next setup.
