Default So, my car failing smot = bad cat :oh:

Thanks to my tax dollars finally coming back to me, I only had to pay $100 for a new installed catalytic converter and a test to pass my car.

Car passed w/ new car emissions levels after test h: Nice improvement from 2-3 times the limit

So, the lesson to everyone here is: Don't buy Random Technology converters. My last smog test barely passed 2 years ago, and I failed this one terribly. Apparently they last just long enough for the warranty to expire.

Moved to Integra / ITR..
And I'm surprised the new cat was that cheap. h:

On the test last year, I passed on my original CC by 1ppm HC at 25 mph.
That's divine intervention. :uhhok:

CarSound > Random Tech

Told you it was the cat.

And dave, aftermarket cats for OBD1 are CARB legal, and cheap...not the case for OBD2.

Oh yeah, I knew the aftermarket dried up completely for OBD2.
I should have been more specific. I was surprised by the price for just a standard OEM equivalent CC... probably because I haven't been in the market for about 10 years. h:
