You have to take off the panels below the dash on either side of the console, they cover up screws which hold the console in place.
The drivers' side panel is held on with 4 screws. Two at the bottom edge which are recessed a little bit, one just to the left of the steering column, and one inside the coin pocket (tricky eh?). The passenger side is just held on by two screws at the bottom like the ones on the driver side.
Once you get the two panels off, you'll see tabs for the console that were directly under the panels. Take those screws out, plus the two screws on either side of the console. Put the shifter in either 2nd or 4th and lift the whole console up and over the shifter. The shifter boot is attatched to the console.
Hope that helps.
