Default transmission???

The ticking noise:
When at idle, in neutral, not moving, I sit with the clutch to the floor. nice and quiet. I let the pedal off the floor and i start to hear a noise, like some kind of belt sound. I push the pedal to the floor again, and it goes away. This does not happens always, but most of the times if I push and release the pedal it happens.

Some people said that I have to replace some transmission bearing .

What do you think?
Thanks.

sounds like your throw out bearing. Not TOO tough to replace. The part is like 15 bucks, but getting the tranny off to do it is pretty time consuming...

If you have to pull a tranny, replace everything that is remotely worn, save the trouble of R+R of stuff. I agree with above diagnosis

i got an act xtss clutch, fidanza flywheel, new 3rd gear assembly (my 3rd gear was pretty much gone), throw out bearing, pilot bearing (i think thats what it's called). and new tranny bearings.

the problem is TOTALLY gone... im pretty sure its either the throwout bearing or the pilot bearing...

You know what, I have the same problem, only mine has progressed to a ticky noise as I drive, and goes away when i push the clutch to the floor. just had my clutch replaced, throwout bearing done, and flywheel lightened. the problem is still there, and I think its the input shaft bearing on the transmission, which im not looking forward to. tell me if you take yours in what they say it was, its irritating as HELL.

When i got all the bearings in my tranny changed it fixed the problem. I'm pretty sure it was my main shaft bearing, when i had the work done the dude called me into his shop... he showed me the main shaft bearing and when he put it into my hand, the bearing came apart and ball bearings went every which-way. The bearing was TOTALLY shot. When i got that bearing and all the others replaced it had completely fixed the problem. Reason i think it was that bearing was because all the others were fine, they jsut had some wear on them and i got them replaced cuz they would have to be in about 10,000 miles anyway... saved on labor by having it all done at once.

The clutch install was 500 for labor, the bearings and their install (labor for bearings was included in clutch/flywheel and 3rd gear install) was 384.... total i spent 884... clutch, flyhweel, and 3rd gear i got for 770... i got hooked up on that price, so it would be closer to about 900 or 950 for those parts.

All in all the total for parts/labor was 884 + 770 = $1654
