Default Intake fitting question

Hello, I have a 96 LS, was just wondering what the big difference in the engine bays of the LS and GSR were aside obviously the engine. I wanted to get an intake here soon(as a paid for gift), but plan to swap the b18c1 in there sometime after this next holiday season, and was wondering why it is they make separate ones for the LS/GS/RS and GSR, and if it was possible to still use a GSR one on a LS or vice versa?

I just can't seem to think of why there would be such a big difference in the top of the engine bay's clearance, being the two engines are just aboutthe same size (from what i can figure form what I've seen in photos).. any help is appreciated!

The intake manifolds are designed differently, the GSR throttle body inlet is positioned a few inches lower than the LS/GS/RS.

Just buy one made for your current engine, and sell it whenever you swap a GSR in.

Confirmed. However, with an elbow from Pepboys an LS/GS/RS intake can easily be mated to the GSR TB/IM.

what about a cat-back exhaust? would one fit either, or is it the same here too?

Same deal, it needs modification to fit.

Pretty sure for the exhaust you just need to pick a different header.
