195's or 205's
I want to get some new tires on my 15inch stock rims. What would you suggest?
195 - 55 - 15's or
205 - 50 - 15's
And why would you chose 1 over the other?

205/50/15
--slightly lower height looks better
---the rims have a lil bit of curbage protection due to the tire going out to the width of the edge of the rim, where with 195/55 the rim stuck out a few millimeters making it more prone to curbing
--bigger contact path on the ground means better traction.
Get some 205/50/15 Bridgestone Potenza S-03's
I got em and their sooo so sticky icky. i luv em.

some people will tell you to avoid going to the 205 on the stock rims cuz of sidewall flex - that's bullsh*t.
go 205! i plan on putting kumho ecsta supra 702s on my gsr wheels eventually - after winter.

After swapping from 195/55 Matador Aquillas to my 205/50 Dunlop SP Sport 5000s, my R took on a whole new feel.
Let me tell you, that after experiencing the switch from 195/55 to 205/50 TWICE now, in two different cars...
DO IT ALREADY!!! :fawk:
You won't regret it, and if you do, just blame it on me.

205's? Why not 215?
I don't see any harm in going wider from 195 to 205 (unless you have 17" icy hot rollas like me and rub the rear fenders like mad)
You will have slightly shorter gearing since the width of the tire is less. Sidewall flex for wider tires? Seems like the lower profile should negate this effect.

Also, the construction of the tire may have more effect on sidewall flex than just the profile height alone. I went from some no name tire (can't remember what came on the car) to Yoko AVS-I of the same size and the handling improved monumentally.
Just arguing for the sake of arguing.

I think I'll be going with the Dunlops since they are all seasons. Anyone else had good experiences with other all seasons?
I really want to get the kumhos but NY sucks and gets snow :madfawk:
