Just installed 1.8a1 wont rev past 3500

I just replaced my engine and it wont seem to rev past 3500 and it seems like it has no power i think the timing is off my friend said it could be distributer any suggestions what it could be?

Are you throwing a CEL? Is the Ignition Timing set correctly?

Start by double checking all the electrical connectors. I had the same problem, and my TPS and MAP sensor were reversed.
