New Car B20b
I Just purchaced a 95 gsr with a b20. This car is realy fast, but the guy I bought it from knew nothing about it. Can I get some advice to figure out what I got? I dont know where to find the stamp on the trany, but I know it has to be a good one. At 4000 rpm I get second gear chirps and at 6000 rpm it get crazy wheel spin when I shift to second. The guy told me this car can beat mustangs and cameros. I didn't believe him at first, but now I think he might be right.
using "tire chirping" as a means of power delivery is useless.
it just means you have crappy tires and/or improper alignment (cambered ass tires dont get much rubber to the ground).
go on the freeway and go 80mph. tell us where the RPM is.
3400rpm its an LS transmission
4000 its a GSR
4400 its a b16 or type R
4700 or higher, and you either have a 4.78 final drive or something special-er
get the car on jackstands.
spin the front wheels while they're in the air, if both spin in the same direction, congratulations you have an lsd equipped transmission.

Ok I think I have a gsr tranny. When Im at 130 km/h, I think thats about 80, I'm at 4100 rpm. I'll have to check for that LSD. I'm not sure what LSD is. I do need a good set of tires. What Rpm is it safe to cruise long distances with. I don't want to damage this awsome engine. I know sombody pumped some money into it. This car was taken by the police because the owner was driving without a license. My gain
One more thing this car has a tube sticking out of the trany with a cap on it. Is that stock on gsr's?

Wow...I have a feeling you got yourself into something you have absolutely no clue about. If anything i'd do some maintainance work but then again that's just me as I do that with any used car I just bought.
honestly, find a dyno shop locally.
most shops charge around 75 bucks for a few baseline runs.
then you'll really know how "special" (or UNspecial) your engine is.
