Default Engine Rebuild Suggestions 98 GSR?

What's up everyone, been a minute. For $2K. Could I get away with some type r pistons & some cams . Or what does anyone recommend for that. BTW it's a 98 GSR. As of now I only have a intake. I figured since if it's going to be rebuilt might as well imrpove performance some.

Thanks

Seems like you want to go NA. If thats the case, on a GSR, a mild bottom end rebuild would include JDM Type R pistons, or USDM PR3 pistons, along with all the new bearings, rings, etc. With a GSR head and block, that would give you an 11.3:1 CR.

Up top, ITR/CTR cams would compliment that perfectly, with the valvetrain of your choice. This would give you potential for 180-190 to the wheels with a good tune.

This is what I'm going to do.

You are going to need cams and well as cam gears, you will need and intake manifold, bigger throttle body, porth match everything. Pistons, ITR or CTR isn't going to cut it you'd need a good stage 2 cam, if you're trying to get 200whp that is and new valvetrain..crower has a good valvetrain kit, 2.5" exhaust, decent header and a socket'd ecu for tuning, then and MAYBE then you'd be at 200 whp. Good luck I hope it works out, keep posting along the way with pictures.

PS quite honestly as far as bang for the buck goes NA yeilds nothing compared to the money you put out. The setup I just told you, you'd be at LEAST 4k deep and for that price you could have a valvetrain upgrade and a FMIC'd turbo set up and totally anialate the 200 whp mark. But to each his own I appreciate when people go for NA it shows more dedication, it usually only gets finished if you've got deep pockets though. Not only that but by the time you get an aggressive enough cam to reach 200 hp it's almost not even driveable and will idle like a sack of turds
