Wrong. The exhaust doesn't make much difference. The header gives almost twice as much as the exhaust.

The Icebox flat out performs better. I've got a DC 4-1 header as well, and I really like the setup. Comptech does make nice headers. Their exhaust is one of the only ones I've considered because of it's nice quiet tone. The Comptech I/H/E is a nice setup.
Nice!

Exactly what I was looking for.

Before I dish out mad cash for dyno time, I'll need to get a carsound cat and V-AFC. What are these dyno days I keep hearing about? Discount dyno runs?

I think I remember reading somewhere that with a V-AFC alone, I can get decent additional power out of my R. Something about Honda keeping it kinda lean up high, probably for emissions or fuel economy.

Can anyone confirm/deny this?

I wasn't expecting much with the header. I decided the Type R stock exhaust was pretty good, and I didn't want the car to be loud. So, I went the header option. I chose the DC 4-1 because I wanted the 4-1 design, but didn't want to mess with the modifications to fit the JDM 4-1.

The header made quite a difference. The kick after 5700 rpm was a noticeably bigger. I wasn't expecting that. There were more gains than I expected. The gains from the header were more than I got from the AEM CAI. I also didn't find any low end losses that a lot of people say happens with a 4-1 design. I would recommend getting a header over an exhaust. It's definitely the weak link on the exhaust side of the engine.
