Default Track Day v. Flyin' Miata open house

I work at Flyin' Miata and this weekend was our 10th annual open house, where a little over a hundred Miata owners showed up from all across the country. We sponsored a track day at the local go kart track on Friday for all the Miata owners to drive on and I had the opportunity to track my car. I was the only front wheel drive car there but I held my own, all things considered. I just thought I would share some pictures with you guys about my experience.

I was running on all season tires, so a switch to a ultra high performance dry tire should easily rub off a few seconds off my time. Besides that, the car is running well.

Here is my boss in his Westfield. The car weighs in at 1300 lbs and is powered by a stock 1.8L miata motor. It can pull 1.15G's on the skidpad.

This is another employee of Flyin' Miata, Keith. He built this car and it is a replica of the Lotus Seven. It is powered by a high compression N/A miata motor. Keith pulled the fastest track times of the day in his Seven.

It is always fun to watch great drivers battle on the track in fast cars. Check out the camera man.

Man, those are nice pictures of the GSR at the track. I cant wait to take mine to Willow now. Did you stiffen up the Konis or the anti-roll bar at all?

Both were set to full stiff.

All things considered, the body roll is still pretty excessive. Higher spring rates and stickier tires would improve things a great deal.

Not really. Most people want power for the twisties instead of a straight line, so they will shoot for 250 whp or so. Nothing big like us Honda guys.

Hey, refresh my memory. Is your suspension adjustable as far as height goes? I can't remember. Because I was going to ask if you lowered it any more for the track day in-order to secure a lower center of gravity.

Also, I was gonna say, a nice huge aluminum spolier may help you keep the rear wheels down a little more on the turns

It was around 46 mph. I was turning 1:12 lap times consistently.
