flywheel and clutch
okay i have just put on my new fidenza flywheel and exedy OEM clutch on my 91 LS, when i start the car there is a weird noise commin from the trans almost like a grinding cant really explain its just sounds weird. and the other thing is my pedal is really really really soft, such as when i push it to the floor and then release it my foot is comming up faster then the pedal is, but then again i havent driven the car yet because i want to find out what that noise is first, a buddy of mine also told me that it can be from incorrect torque settings and not torqueing the bolts down in the right order. if anyone can help that would be great, also for the grinding noise i was thinking about the starter gear making that noise when its on the flywheel.
Something is not right. If I was you I'd pull the tranny back off and check it before something breaks. You got a cable clutch too so your pedal might be out of adjustment. It might not be engaging the throw out bearing which could make the gears grind. If it's grinding while just sitting there in neutral you didn't do something right like torque sequence. The starter wouldn't be making the noise unless the gear is getting stuck out touching the flywheel. I doubt it's that though. Best way to know is to pull it back apart.
Sounds like it may have been mis-aligned when you installed it. I would recommend re-doing it. You don't want it grenading in the tranny. I have the same clutch set-up. Off Ebay? yeah...works great for me and no problems going in or under driving conditions. It has been about 4k since the install too. The pedal thing is normal when installed correctly. With a few miles it should stiffen back up. Or wait, you have a cable tranny...hmmm....
