Default Changing transmission fluid

I got a 1996 Acura Integra GS-R 5 speed. I'm trying to change the transmission fluid, but i'm not sure how to do this. I got the service manual and it says for me to check the transmission fluid while the car is on ground level? I don't know how's that possible since I got to jack the car up to get to where the oil filler plug and drain plug underneath the passenger side.

Also the plug sit sideways and I'm not sure how to fill the transmission fluid.

Here's the instructions I'm reading. Can anyone help me out here. I'm also not sure what the size of the drain plug washer I'm supposed to change. Do I need those special funnels or something...I'm not sure what their called.

You can check it with the filler bolt off and putting your finger in there, it should be right at the top. It's pretty simple I did mine this weekend & put in that new honda mtf formula stuff. Seems alot smoother.

Anyway. This is what you do:

1) Take off the front passenger wheel
2) Take off the filler bolt first, this way if for some reason you can't remove the drain bolt you're not screwed.
3) Remove drain bolt and let drain.
4) After about 10 mins put back the drain bolt
5) Now to fill it up you'll need a funnel with about a foot or so tubing at the end of it, maybe a lil more. Just enough so you can have the tube in the hole and have the funnel facing up-right to pour in the fluid. I got mine at autozone for like $3.
6) Pour the new fluid in until it starts to over flow (I kept my oil drain pan there even after I drained the old oil)
7) Once it starts to pour out, then it's full. Put the filler bolt back on and you're pretty much done.

One thing I should add is be careful with the washer on both bolts. My drain bolt's washer fell in the oil pan when I was trying to remove it quickly since it pours out fast. I put everthing together to notice I forgot the washer. Hasn't leaked since and stuff so I kept it and i'll just put it on next time I change the fluid again.

Oh and welcome to the board.

thanks for the detail instructions
I'm going to change it this Saturday. Hope the GM Synchromesh Friction Modified fluid I'm putting in helps with the shifting.

Synchromesh worked great for me. Just make sure you don't over-tighten the filler bolt, there is a thread going right now for someone who just cracked their tranny case.

No prob.

Shouldn't run into any problems, took me 40 mins to do but only cause I did it at night when I got home from work and was using a flash light for everything.
