Default What's wrong? (poss driveline?)

Hey guys, I've got a question. So today I take my car for a ride, and it started acting up. It's incredibly hard to explain, but here goes....

Sometimes my car will lunch forward, while simultaneously making a "thump" noise. This doesn't happen when the clutch is in, and the more I pushed the throttle, the more rapid it got. If I'd start and first and go to 4k, it'd to it 5-10 times, and if I eased into it it did it maybe once. Then I was going down a hill, not fast enough to brake but didn't have the throttle in, and it started doing it. Another way of explaining it is this...it's as if my tranny slipped, and then I all of a sudden got power/traction, and it lunged me forward, except I had torque the entire time, and I've felt my tranny slip and I know it's not that. My first thoughts were clutch, or maybe a tooth broken off in my transmission. Also, I know timing belts are infamous around 90,000 miles on GSR's, so is there any chance it's that?

Thanks in advance for the help.

If your timing belt slipped a couple of teeth or broke (wouldn't start), you'd definately notice. Kinda hard from your explaination but i'm guessing maybe clutch. What yr is your teg and how many you have on it?

Its definitely not the timing belt... If it breaks the motor dies instantly...

Your tranny cannot "slip", but the clutch can...
Best bet is the clutch is bad, meaning it could be the pressure plate not applying even pressure anymore due to high miles, beating, etc.
Or it could be the clutch disc itself, where the material wears down and does not contact the flywheel smoothly....

Have you ever replaced the clutch?

Recently bought the car. And I know the timing belt can't break without a piston flying but I mean maybe it ripped long ways or something. I don't know, but I do know now it's clutch-related. How should I know if it's the clutch itself or pressure plate, and also, is my clutch adjustable? If so, could it be off adjustment?
