Default Crossing border with parts and/or car mods

Ok guys I got a question again here,

I lvie in KItchener Ontario, which is not too far from the buffalo border. When I ordered my wheels and tires as well as front lip and headers, the shipping was way way way cheaper to ship to buffalo AND the wheel company only shipped to the states. So what I did was get the companies to ship for the same approx dates to the ups store in buffallo C/O my name which in turn allows me to pick up my items there jut over the border....

I have been recently reading the tarrif laws for Can/USA and it says that if a car is modded or has custom work done over the border, even thogh it is the same car, it is considered new, and therefore its full value must be declard and duty mmust be paid on it......I think this is retarded.....maybe you should have to pay duty on poarts bought or instaled but the whole car is ridiculous....

Ummmm so heres my question, If I wanted tog et away form paying duty if i dont have to so I was simply gonna swap my wheels on and not declare them before I came over the border, but now afer reading this and reading that if they suspect that a cr has been modified they can impound it and charge you an exorbinate fee to get it out....I just may declare the cost fo my wheels.....Does anyone know what the cost or % of duty that I would pay for my wheels would be....

Also any opinions on this out there too?

I have no idea what the duty will be.
The safest course of action is to have the wheels shipped to your doorstep in Kitchener. That way, you're only paying duty taxes on the cost of the wheels alone.

I would not tempt fate by trying to avoid paying the tariff completely.
The last thing you want is for your car to be impounded.

Ah, gotcha. h:

If you keep the rims in your trunk and show a sales reciept, I'd think you'd be fine.

So yeah I got my rims and tires and man do they look sweet, im in love with them, my car now looks ten times better IMO, thogh I buffed it today too .....so in case anyone is wondering on declaring for auto items at the border, you get charged HST and GST on your purchase, and also have to pay taxes on any service charges applicable to your item, leik i fyou receipt says that you paid 76$ for shipping then you dont only pay duty on the item but also get charged for the services as well , i think its pretty lame....
