Default Question for a friend

So I have a friend who drives a 94 teg ls, and he picked me up the other day in it and the thing drives fine, it appears to be in good working order. Hewever, when we stopped at a train track, and the car was paused for several minutes and then took off he shot out a ton of whitish smoke.....he said he'd never seen it before, and afterwards for the rest of the day we didn't see a thing, and he said nor the next couple of days. He asked em to check and see fi anyone knew the problem, I told him i thought it was his head gasket but couldn't be sure cause I dont know what esle would cause that, I knwo that white smoke is suppose to be indicative of burnign coolant, which can be a result of a blown head gasket but I'm not sure whatelse can cause you to burn coolant....

Any opinions and or advice would be appreciated.....

-Adam

P.S. my engine swap went well and now my car is driving like a dream, no oil burning and i cnahged the oil yesterday and its golden instead of that shitty black mess I was used to seeing before lol

Head gaskets can leak intermittently and given what you've described, it's the most likely source of the white smoke.

How long had the car been running? U say he just picked u up?

Most likely it is condensation in the exhaust system... Although u say it was a "ton" of smoke? It could be the head gasket then...
Do a compression and leak-down test to check the head gasket.
