Default Crackling noise

When I drive my car I'm starting to get this crackling noise. Happens between 2k-3k rpm between 1st-4th gear maybe... It's starting to annoy me. Its been happening for the past week. Doesnt matter if I'm turning or not. Anyone know what it might be?

well today my head gasket, cam seal, and valve cover gasket were replaced and when the distributor cap was taken off, it seems as if the rotor wasnt tightened all the way when i did my tune up a few months ago, so one of the metal contact posts (dont know the name) was bent back, with a lil bit of metal shavings.... and the rotor was slightly damaged from the side... dont know if this has anything to do with the crackling noise though...

Anyone know if this crackling noise has anything to do with the cap and rotor?

Are you sure this noise isn't just a loose heat shield?

I can't really tell where the sound is coming from... when I drive it sounds like either the engine or maybe under the car.... and I might check out the heat shields too, but I doubt that's it.
