help...
ok im in the process of fixing my integra... whats the best way to get the transmission out... do i have to pull the whole motor... get under the car or what? just gimme ideas or pointers...
But it can be removed with the engine still in the car.
I've done only manual trans removal so here is what you do:
Most easily is to put a jack underneath or just lie on your back under the car. Remove the tranny to engine bolts (make sure everything else is disconnected/detached already). Put the jack under the tranny or lie on your back and slide it out sideways away from the engine until it is released from any binding there might be... Then either lower it with the jack to wheel out from under car, or just "bench press" it down onto your chest and slowly let it down to the ground... Have someone to help hold it on top and guide it out of the engine bay. Really is a 2 person job.
Don't be afraid as Honda Trannies are pretty light... I knew a guy who would remove DSM Talon trannies by himself just by benching it down and they are much heavier than Honda trannies.
Good luck!
i'd say pulling the motor is probably gonna be the easiest way if your on your own or with a friend. i just found it a pain to line the splines up when you just pull the tranny and not the motor.
