Default gsr rods.help.......confused

i'm getting ready to build my motor,a 1997 gsr (at my uncles machine shop) and i am confused about the rods i purchased. i know the gsr rods have a p72 casted into them, and no R marking, so i bought what i thought were type r's, as they had an r forged into the beam. however the rod cap has a p72 forged into it...........i thought type r's were p73? anyways the rod bolts have the dimples for a stretch gauge, and the caps are not different (there perfectly round, and have a weird paint number mark covering both rod and cap at the split, they all match correspondingly. my question is does anyone know if there is a type r with a p72 casting number? as i want the strength of the r rod, but am not shure if thats what i ended up with. thanks guys

yes i know, the only difference is the weight (due to a stronger lighter steel) and the markings,( ive even seen them have a slightly different color too) the p72 , and the r marking are what have me confused. ive always seen the r and the p73 associated together, never the p72 though. and without a gsr rod to compare the weight to , i thought maby someone else ran across the same thing. thanx

The geometry is the exact same between both rods. Whether the rods are better and stronger than GSR................that is a good one. But you know what? Eagle rods are awesome and are fairly inexpensive.

if your going to stick with oem rods you should have just upgraded the rod bolts. thats the weakest point of the connecting rods. by going from GSR to type R rods i really dont see any improvement.

already got arp 2000's for them, as for the eagles, i would love um, however, i already invested my money in the r's and bolts (about 200 bucks) they should be more than strong enough, im thinking i have jdm p72's ,hence the r marking. anyhow thanks for all your positive input,i'm new to the whole forum deal, so its nice to know theirs people willing to lend a hand. thanks steve

its going be my day to day driver, (my 69 big block camero, is killing me on gas) so i am building an import, i have a jrsc for it and am only going to run the 4 inch pulley,so i don't think the boost will be high enough to need eagles...........however in 6 months or so ill probly rip the thing back out and spend some more green, sleeve it, take her out to 84mm and do a full eagle rotating assembly, with wiseco pistons, toped off with a gt35 turbo, and hondata s300. this is my first integra, i've personally owned, im not shure what to expect yet. im gona try to match 514cid big block torque, with high reving horspower!!! and 25 mpg of course
