Buying a 95 Integra - Questions!
Hey guys
I'm planning to buy an Integra (1995 LS) in a week and a half. It used to belong to me a year and a half ago but I sold it to my brother; he's now looking for a bigger car and I'm buying this one back (for a good price
).
There's a few things wrong with it at the moment. I had it in almost mint condition when I owned it but he's kind of let it go..
Both side mirrors are missing the glass (apparently he hit something with them on 2 separate occasions), the brakes need to be bled and adjusted, and the intake is broken.
I've already ordered an Ebay Special intake (cheapie short ram just to have a filter!
) and have been looking over some side mirrors.
My question is, what else should I check out that I'll probably be missing?
I know I should probably replace the plugs, wires, oil, etc but are there some glaringly obvious issues I could have with one of these cars? I didn't have internet when I had the Integra before so I probably missed out on some valuable information.
I want this car as a daily driver/highway cruiser so my Miata can have some downtime for work (Turbo coming soon, w00t!!). So I want to do a couple of basic mods, as I said already I bought a cheap intake for now, I may do exhaust, etc.
So!
1. What else am I missing that would definitely need to be checked when purchasing the car.
2. Does ANYBODY have experience with the cheap Ebay mirrors or are they all junk.
2. The car has a fart can on it right now for no reason except for stupidity. Is there a nice, clean sounding and fairly quiet catback that will make some noise when you get on it? I don't want some racer-boy crap and I also don't want to spend a pile of money on it, but I'll consider it if I get a consensus. Something that won't drone on the highway but will give a nice tone when the loud pedal is depressed
I know I'm missing something so someone give me some tips/pointers/basic DIY mods/etc.
BTW I didn't see a new members section or anything similar, so.... Hi, my name is Joel and I'm a car nut
I had a few different questions so I didn't want to put this in the tech thread...

Damn, I totally missed this post. :run:
Welcome, Joel.
1. What is the mileage? I would make sure the timing belt has been done in 90k mile increments and if not, replace it as soon as possible. It would also be a good idea to run a compression test to make sure the engine is in good running shape. Check all the fluids and replace if necessary. I would just go ahead a freshen up the tranny, brake, radiator, power steering, and clutch fluid if they have been neglected for a while. While you are replacing the wires, also replace the distributor cap and rotor. It may also need a valve adjustment if the valves are ticking at all. While you are down there, it would be wise to replace the valve cover gasket.
2. I don't have personal experience, but I would look at a local or online salvage yard before ebay. Usually buying cheap stuff off ebay will just cost you later when the poor quality shows through and you are left with crap that must be replaced again.
3. The consensus around here on a quiet but decent sounding exhaust is either the Apex'i WS2 or the RSR Exmag. Anything with a chambered exhaust design should be fairly quiet. You may also want to look into a Type R exhaust as it is quiet and will perform fairly well.
Feel free to use the search function if you are looking for specific DIY's or advice.

Well the car has 153K miles on it.
The engine sounds very good, it had been very well taken care of until the last year. I was the second owner and the first was a boring woman who was very picky about its upkeep.
You're probably right about picking up mirrors from a junkyard, I haven't seen ANY that look like half decent quality on Egay.

Welcome aboard !! Mostly everything coverable has been covered above.. But Ebay mirrors, Uhm.. Depending, check out HAN's part classifieds, or if you want something a little different, ebay has some Spoon style mirrors, that dont have any flashy blinky lights, and are quite good quality wise, Depending on color, most of them come black, and have pretty good resistance to heat, and weather..
Hmm, Id say since summer is coming up, if the AC works, just take it to have it looked at and see it things are good, inspect belts and pulleys.. Uhm, and everything posted above ! Good Luck mane, Post some pics up in Member rides !

I got mine as a theft recoverery so it was missing a lot of stuff, i just picked up some mirrirors and painted them black with a can of generic black auto paint. no one knows they weren't supposed to be black if you don't tell them.
