you can buy a whole new axle at your local autoparts store for about $125.00and it will work just as good at OEM one

if it is clicking you'll want to go ahead and replace the whole axle.

The one's from autozone are crappy, we get those coming back often.

They must be mistaken. I just purchased a new outboard boot kit with the boot, grease, and bands for $30 or so. They probably gave you the price for a new CV joint.

if the boots ripped just replace the whole shaft unless you know for a fact how long its been ripped and what you drove in.

when the boot rips chances are the grease is gone by the time u realize it and the joint will be close to being trashed if not already so.

and in this case...the cv joint is junk if theres a click...time for a new shaft/ they arent that expensive or hard to change...30 minutes tops to change that shaft as long as theres no crazy rust on the bolts and you know what your doing.

Just for people who maybe searching. Those splitboot quick fixes you can are complete shit. No matter what kind of sealent/glue/epoxy you try to use. once around the block and they let loose all that grease you put in there. No good, don't buy them.

If you know the boot has been torn then you may as well replace the whole axle. Now that you've heard the clicking, it pretty much means that the contamination has done damage and it is only going to get worse. Putting a new boot on is not going to alleviate that problem. Replacing the boot will only work if you catch the damage in time and replace the boot before the axle gets contaminated.

Go to autozone and pick up one of their remanufactured ones. They come with a life time warranty and aren't expensive at all.

From working there, i've seen the axles come in 2-3 years of use. Personally... i would not buy axles from autozone. Can't you get drag axles for like $150 each?

Depends, I'd say like 300-400.

I don't care how many times I rip a boot or break a CV joint. It's free replacement!
