Default Ah fudge! Burning Oil?

I think my 94 gsr motor might be burning oil. I just checked the oil level yesterday and I found that there was BARELY any left on the stick. Just about a month before I had it at half in between the 2 indicator marks. I have also found my cylinder 1 and 2 spark plugs to be wet and there was oil around the thread and around the spark plug hole in the head... I just put this motor together 1000 miles ago. The head was compeltely rebuild, guides and valve seals changed, new valves, cams, springs etc... The only thing I didn't touch was the block which had 60k on it... Damn, that might have been my biggest mistake. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanx

Do a compression & leakdown.

Ok, I just compression tested it and it has 185 +- 1 within all four cylinders... Is this low? What do I do now? Thanx

You should be around 210-275 psi per cylinder!

Wow, so what would give me bad compression all around?? The motor feels strong, idles perfect and sounds good. What can the problem be?

Possibly, piston rings. It would be a good idea to have a leak down, this will give you a better idea of what's wrong.

How could the rings on ALL cylinders be bad?

It's possible that the piston to cylinder wall clearance is too great AKA the cylinder was bored out too much for the piston you are using. That will cause the rings to not fully compress and seat.

He didn't touch the block, it's an OEM gsr with 60k on it. He only rebuilt the head.

Well dry compression is good, its at 220 +- 1 on all 4. However I still see oil on spark plug for cylinder #1... Weird... Can't figure out why. Anyone got any suggestions?
