Try replacing the tranny fluid first. A lot of times it will reduce/eliminate grinds simply because you're flushing out any particulates that are floating around in there that could be causing the grinding, and it'll save you a heap of money if it works. I changed mine when it was starting to get notchy to GM Synchromesh and... no more notchiness!!! Honda MTF and Redline are also good alternatives. Good luck.

where can i get gm synchromesh from? autozone? is the honda mtf or redline better?

you can get gm syncromesh from any gm dealership parts department. make sure to get the friction modified version and not the friction modifier.

since you have a grinding tranny the syncromesh might do you some good

i think it's $10-13/quart. well worth it if it gets rid of the grinds.
