Starting Problem - Starter Relay or Clutch Interlock Switch
I'm having a problem with my 91 teg. The car won't turn over. I've verified power coming from the ignition switch to the Starter relay, verified power from the relay to the Clutch Interlock Switch. I was told that the CIS is used as a 'grouding wire' for the relay to let power go through to the starter? I'm having a hard time determining where the problem is. There's a black wire coming off the CIS and according the Haynes manual the black/blue wire coming from the starter relay goes to the CIS. At some point, there's something else that connects the CIS black wire to the Starter relay Black/Blue wire.
All this started when the little plug on the pedal that the CIS uses to depress its button broke. I noticed it after a successfull start. I immediately drove to the dealership to replace the plug, but the car still wouldn't start after that. I can still push start it however.
Anyone have any suggestions/experience with this?
Thanks,
-Derek
