Default '01 GS-R seats stolen - NEED ADVICE, love this car.

Just joined forum searching for sympathy/advice. Hope the seat-stealers aren't members.
Immaculate '01 red GS-R, broken into and stolen front and rear seats/brackets/belt buckles etc. Obviously proffesionally done and there's nothing left.
Insurance company won't cover, and wants to total the car. 66k, gorgeous, engine and body are perfect, and they want to total it over the seats. Anyone have advice on replacement/modified racing etc seats that actually come with seat/bracket/belt etc so that I can repair it myself for less than the cost of factory seats?

Default i know

the factory leather seats are apparently around 14K to buy and install retail since they dont manufacture anymore, according to insurance. so, i buy the car back and look for seats myself, is what i'm thinking. just need to know exactly the parts i need, and someone who has some knowledge about it

Your insurance agent is delusional if they only took the seats and belts.

If you want to continue to use your rear seating area as a place for people to ride, I would strongly encourage you to replace the stolen seats with another set of stock seats.

Otherwise, there are plenty of fixed back lightweight seats that will work for the DC2 chassis. I would recommend the Sparco Rev or Sprint (I had a set of the latter in my GTi)... along with camlock harnesses and a bolt in harness bar for the shoulder straps.

Your claim rep. is a fucking retard. 14k for new seats? My ass, why don't you call a dealership and see what they really cost. I bet you they are no where near that. 14k for seats, maybe from a 150k Ferrari.

If you let them total it, you will have a salvaged title (even though nothing is wrong with it); which means if you want to trade it or sell it, you will get less for it later on.

$1400 for brand new seats and install might be understandable from the dealer, but $14K is ridiculous.

Yes, we've already established the erroneous value for the seats and belts.

It's sound like somebody moved a decimal point and doesn't have the common sense to look at the original sale price of the vehicle.

Can we move on...please?

State Farm totaled my 95 4dr GSR w/ 78000 miles 2 months ago because they couldn't find leather front seats and front door panels.

My sympathies.....but you'd certainly concede that the cost of the seats and belts would not be greater than the KBB value on a 2001 DC2. :hs:

It's worth fighting the claim adjuster IMO.
