Default bad ignition?

so over the last couple weeks my car periodically wouldn't turn over. 2000 ITR. battery is charged, lights on, stereo on but all i can hear is the clicking noise coming from engine compartment. what i've been doing to start it is just flicking the ignition key and usually 2-3 of those would get it started. then i'd go another 2-3 days before it would happen again.

one of the guys at work said it sounded like the ignition.

any other possible ideas? i'd like to try and fix it myself if i can....

Sounds a lot like a bad starter.

Check to make sure the wires on the starter are good and properly grounded. If all the wiring checks out, you may need to consider putting in a new starter ... as long as the battery and alternator are good.
