Default Good cheap lowering springs 1996 special ed.

I know Eibach makes good springs. For god sakes I live about 5 minutes away from eibach's headquarters. But I can't afford that much for springs and I don't race anyways. My question is what are good cheap springs for a 1996 Acura Integra Special Edition. The car is already lowered via coilovers but I just can't stand the ride. I used to have progress springs on a 2000 civic ex. I loved the ride on them and something like that would be just fine. Again price is very important so any advice on where I can get them for cheap would be awesome. I'm also trying to save on the install, so a link to a "How to install" site or thread would be great. Thanks in advance!

I would stay far away from the eBay no-name brands.
Also, it is false economy to run lowering springs with your stock shocks. The stiffer spring rate will acclelerate the rate at which the stock dampers wear out.

I would vote Tein S-Tech springs and the KYB AGX adjustable shock.. or the GR-2 non-adjustable shock if money is tight. See if you can find the springs either used or on sale. That said, I would only buy the shocks new, as neither the AGX or GR2 are rebuildable.

Budget-wise: I would plan on $200 for the springs and $250 for the AGX dampers.

Thanks for the advice, but that still seems a bit pricy. Also, I've had stock shox on a lowered car before, its fine with me. I'm NOT GOING FOR PERFORMANCE. I'm going for comfort. The coilovers are just way to rough for my taste. Also, I still need a how-to link.

if your going for comfort, I wouldn't be on the market for lowering springs for the rate of travel will be less and to compensate... they will be harder.

There is no need to yell. Kill your CAPS LOCK.

And if $550 is too much for springs and dampers, I don't know what to tell you. Take your chances with the eBay no-name brands and you'll learn that there are some places where it does not pay to cut corners.

To a certain extent, your priorities are in direct conflict.

In order to lower the car, you wind up sacrificing the amount of wheel travel. This in turn requires stiffer springs and dampers to effectively manage wheel movement within the remaining range or travel. IMO, the S-Tech springs are the best solution in striking a balance between ride comfort and a moderate amount of lowering. The GR2 shocks are roughly the same price as new OEM shocks and still preserve a comfort-biased ride.

The damper upgrade is needed for matters of safety.
When the stock shocks fail, the ride quality will become quite bouncy and you run the risk of bottoming out. Do that on a cloverleaf on-ramp and you'll learn the meaning of snap oversteer first-hand.

Thank you for the info. I don't want a no name brand. Also, I have misstated when I said that I'm going only for comfort. What I meant was that comfort is my first priority, but price and style are almost as important. I understand that dropping my car will make it less smooth, I've dropped a car before and the car I'm in now is low. More accurately I just want my car to bounce less. I remember my lowered civic would bounce and scrape when I hit a dip or bump in the road, but that was it. The integra I'm in now just shakes like mad when the road gets rough. The shaking is loud and iritating and uncomfortable in a way that I associate with coilovers and "heated/cut" springs. I want to be in the middle ground, where my car is still lower, but my ride isn't so rough that I dread train tracks like the dentist.
I'm between 2 springs. The PROGRESS, which I've had before and loved, and the TEIN, which keep getting reccomended to me not only here but at local stores. The big difference between the two that I notice is that the progress springs offer a 2.1" drop in the front and the back for my integra and the teins offer 2.5" front and 1.7" back. I know the teins will have a more agressive stance but I'm not so sure I like that much of a difference in the ride height. Does anyone have a picture of an integra with the teins installed so that I can see?
Regardless... I understand that the shox need replacing, and truth be told the ones in the car probably need to be replaced due to age anyway, but I just bought the car and I don't have the cash to do it all at once (hence the DIY request). Prices here in Riverside aren't too high for parts but labor is rediculous. I have plenty of tools and I'm rather effective with them.
I've found the springs online for aprox. $140 shipped. any other suggestions are welcome. Again, thank you for your help.

I've gone with Eibach sportline 1.8' drop w/ Koni yellows and so far this has been the best set-up for me (well.. i am also comparing this set-up vs my other coilover + shock ebay package).
