Default VAFC trouble please help!!!

Recently bought a used VAFC on ebay. Just finished connecting all the wires and stuff. Made sure everything was connected correctly then switched on the car. Only thing that happened was the lights lite up but no screen? Is there a problem with the unit itself or could the wiring being wrong?
Thanks,
Matt

But is it hard to program? Do you need a dyno? Any help would be great.

One more question...Can you adjust the VTEC point only, or do you have to mess with the air/fuel ratio too?
