Default Radio and Clock

I have a 97 GS-R. Okay, yesterday my cd player kept going on and off. So I figured that there must be a bad connection with one of the wires, and sure enough there was. I fixed the connection between the two wires and pushed the cd player back into the dash. Now the clock won't come on and neither will my cd player. Any ideas? Maybe I shorted something out? I checked the radio fuse and it is good because the cig lighter is still working. Thanks in Advance!

Forgot to ask. Which wire was loose... the red, yellow or black? I believe the premier series has a heavy guage ground that needs to be attached directly to chasis steel. The resistance on the factory radio harness ground is high. If it was the red or yellow, check if there are fuses in the pioneer harness and than check fuse directly below where the harness plugs into the stereo. Also when you say the clock is out...do you mean the vehicle clock or the stereo clock?

If the wire that was loose wasnt red, yellow or black.....we have a whole seperate issue.

The yellow wire was the one that wasn't connected securely. I'll check all the fuses. The vehicle clock is the one that is not working.

Did you do the install, or did you take it to someone? Sometimes on higher end radios "good" shops run that wire straight to the battery (to avoid engine noise, and for a direct contact). If thats the case there may be a fused link close to the car battery.

Unfortunately, that wouldnt explain the clock going out. Im willing to bet the clock fuse is tied in with several interior components (i.e. dimmer switch). Your best bet is to get a multi-meter/test light and check all the fuses in the car & under the hood (if you use a test light, be carefull with abs/cruise/airbag fuses).

If you dont have the tools, but have some spare time...try pulling each fuse individually and visually inspect them. MAKE SURE THE KEY IS OUT OF THE IGNITION! Good luck...

I installed the radio myself about 2 years ago, so I know that there isn't a fuse on the power wire. I manually checked all of the fuses under the dash, and they were all good...So what the heck would cause my clock on the dash not to work? This is so aggervating...
