This isn't a chat room.

Do yourself a big favor and pick up a book on Honda tuning. Learn about the basics of our motors and your options. You need to be conversant in the basics for our suggestion to make sense.

Up to this point, you've been building toward a naturally aspirated tune.
If you decide to switch to a turbocharging, your exhaust header and intake will have to go... and the 404 cams aren't going to be an ideal solution.

404's would be sweet with a boosted setup....assuming you can get it on a dyno and tune out the excessive overlap with cam gears. The high lift and duration will make it a good cam to run on a boosted application once the overlap is dialed out.

Crower has a 402 turbo grind that has more lift than the 404 -- with substantially less endurance on the exhaust cam. It practically does the work of dialing out overlap for you. h:

Sorry, I had to chime in. :hsughr:

Very true. However, after reading this thread, I am very hessitant to recommend Crower turbo cams to anyone.

A stock cam will be plenty sufficient for boost, so this discussion is really unnecessary since he is still running the stock cam.

I was just saying....h:

Wow.. if that many people are having problems, I'm very glad I didn't buy the street 402s last summer. :eek3:
And yeah, I know we've drifted a little bit. :chuckles:
I'm the one who brought up the topic, so I'll gladly bear the responsibility.

Every major cam manufacturer has cams break...it's just the nature of the beast. Toda, Spoon, Crower, Skunk2, everybody. I love how on Honda-Tech it automatically turns into everybody knows someone that's had it happen, and the company automatically sucks.

Crower makes good cams, period. The 404's are actually very close in spec to the OEM GSR cams...and I've seen them make EXCELLENT power on boosted setups.

A more restrictive exhaust setup or going back to your stock exhaust manifold is the cheapest and easiest way to get a little extra torque, but at the sacrafice of top end power.

You need to find a way to make your motor flow more CFM's, whether that be through bigger displacement or forced induction, that's up to you.
