Default 98 teg engine swap!

I just decided to open this thread now bc I am so excited for next week. Right now I have a 98 GS with 125,000 on it. Last friday I put a down payment of $1500 for my friend's shop to order me a brand new engine for a swap. Here's whats happenin:

LS Long Block
Type-R head
P28 ECU w VTEC popping at 4600
Cams & Shafts
Ported
Upgraded bearings
High compression pistons and rods
New intake manifold w/ cold air intake
Ceramic headers (wrapped)
Full downpiping w/ Apexi N1 exhaust
Type R Tranny (45k on it out of my friends old teg)
Stage 2 clutch (Skunk i think)

Theres more to list I just cant remember all of it off the top of my head. Theyre estimating with everything I should have between 220-240hp at the wheels. Regardless, this is a BRAND NEW engine with 0 miles (which means I cant even see its power til I put at least 1k-2k on it). All of this and a lil more for only $4500 installed! Theyve already began building the block and expect it to be ready for mounting next week. I will def post pics as soon as I get it. What do u think? Good deal? Ill put an updated parts list up also once I get ahold of it.

What specific rods and pistons are you using?
What compression ratio will you be running?
Which cams?

I would like more specific information from the builder before committing that kind of money. Just my 2¢.

Im not sure exactly, but they have an entire write-up for me at the shop, i just havent gotten around to picking it up yet. I've known the owner of the shop since we were 12 and hes been doing this his whole life. I have a lot of trust in him, I've seen what he can do to an LS engine and I was pretty impressed. His last Integra had a 13 to 1 compression ratio running high 12s in the 1/4. Not too shabby for an all motor 4 cylinder. But I'll put more info up when I get the chance. Thanks for your input.

12s N/A? Very nice.
Keep us in the loop when you can.
And lastly, welcome to the board.

With a 12:1 CR and a very agressive cam, it's certainly doable on high-octane fuel. Hell, there are people in CA running 12:1 on our 91 octane horse-piss. h:

i cant wait till people start moding and tuning their cars to run on E85, it's street legal race fuel.

dave- the s2k had nearly a 12:1 stock compression IIRC, it might have been like 11.6:1 but it was pretty close.

c-speed was up there with there b20/vtec so it's very doable

It was just an estimate. There's a dyno garage a few miles away from my house so I do plan on getting it tuned. I'll also be posting those specs when they come in the future.

That does sound like a good price. Trusting someone is cool and all, but trust that he'll take his time and build it like he would his own. Remember, new engines from reputable places come with some kind of warranty. Just keep that in mind.
