Default need advice

dont laugh (ok laugh) but my teenage son just managed to put some (lets assume 5-6 gallons) of diesel in my acura rsx. needless to say it does not want to run - nor do i want to run it - but he did drive it for about 3-4 miles before he told me what had happened.

appreciate any advice on what damage may have been done and what best to do at this point.

i wish i was kidding - and i dont know how he did it... but he did. am wondering if draining the tank and then running good fuel will bring things back to normal - or could there have been internal damage

that stinks. I would do the following. Call Acura from a payphone and give a fake name and tell them what happened and see what they say to do. Don't call the dealership cause they won't know. Call Honda / Acura of America. They may be able to tell you what to do. If they say it is bad news, then do this. Drain the tank. Then run regular fuel. When the fuel sensor and other things start going, they will be covered under warranty.

First...never let your son drive it again.

Second...purge the whole fuel system...not just emptying the tank. You may need a mechanic to do it.

Also I just conferred witht a buddy of mine and isn't the size of the pump nozzle for diesel too large for a regular unleaded tank?

How did he get it in?

Your son must have been very drunk or very stupid.
