Default CEL Light not blinking

Ok, so my car has been cranking and not starting. So I replaced the ign. coil and it wouldn't crank as well anymore. Not sure what happened but that's not what I'm getting into right now.

So after that, the engine light comes on when I turn the key to "II" i believe. The light comes on only once for few seconds then shuts off. I would say that it's the "long" blink. Could I assume this to be code 10?

However, when I try to do a CEL test, via paperclip into the blue connector, the light comes on but does not blink and does not go off. Any ideas?

Your "CEL" or MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is functioning normally. If after inserting "paper clip" you do not get any blinks, that means the ECU has no codes for you. Recommend checking the basics, i.e. spark @ the plugs, signal pulse @ the negative side of the coil, fuel @ the rail, etc. Replacing parts at random without doing a proper diagnososis can get real expinsive......................

A CEL code 10 (IAT temp sensor) would not prevent the car from starting. I've been throwing that code for forever now...

A code 10 would be 10 actual short blinks, numbers after that are represented by a short blink folwed by a long, i.e. = 14 (Idle Air Control Valve) would be one long blink, very short pause, & 4 long long blinks
